We’ve spent a lot of time working on the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport 3.6 TDV8 software here at JR Tuning LTD, however we felt it time to share the love with the lesser talented 2.7 TDV6. The TDV8 is a great lump from factory, nowhere near as fast as it could be due to marketing simply not wanting it out performing the 4.2 SuperCharged, but a good lump nevertheless. The same cannot be said about TDV6 unfortunately which suffers from terrible turbo lag from factory. This makes for some pretty heart stopping moments at roundabouts and busy junctions.

There is good news however! We can lift the 2.7 TDV6 from the 188bhp which struggles with the 2500kg kerb weight of the Range Rover to a much more healthy 230bhp while adding another 95Nm of torque at the same time. The best bit however is we hugely reduce the horrendous turbo lag which plagues these engines. Range Rover & Range Rover Sport TDV8 Remap

The Land Rover Range Rover TDV8 engine has to be one of our favorite engines to tune. It is a milestone for Diesel engines, providing levels of refinement and performance previously unheard of. Its quiet and composed at low speeds but rumbles like a petrol V8 under load. We have two staff members with TDV8 powered Range Rovers and time after time they’re asked… ‘is this a petrol?’… No it isn’t.. it’s a JR Tuned TDV8!

So lets talk numbers. The Range Rover TDV8 ships with 267bhp and 640Nm torque. That’s enough for an 8.6sec sprint to 62mph in a Range Rover Sport and gives reasonably strong in-gear pull. It’s a good engine from factory we must admit… but… as always, there is room to improve and in the case of the TDV8 there is a lot of room to improve. This engine has been de-tuned by a shocking 70bhp and 160Nm! We can guess why, a JR Tuned TDV8 will give a 4.2 SuperCharged petrol a run for its money. Simple product placement and marketing meant Land Rover needed to turn the wick down on this unit. Nobody would accept a 4.2 S/C doing 12-15mpg when the TDV8 could perform the same or better and achieve 24-30mpg depending on driving style.

Quite simply the results from tuning a Range Rover or Range Rover Sport TDV8 are amazing. The extra power is only the half of it, the sharper response and earlier spool of the turbos transform the way the Range Rover drives. Peak gains are approaching 200Nm at certain RPM producing in-gear overtaking power which is simply mind blowing. Remapped torque figures from the TDV8 are even greater than the new 5.0 S/C petrol engine. Your looking at 800Nm peak with 750Nm on-tap from a mere 1600rpm!

Audi RS4 Remap & Tuning

After extensive development on our own Audi RS4 we are pleased to offer what we believe is one of the best tuning packages available for the B7 Audi RS4.

A little reading on the internet shows the B7 Audi RS4 and Audi R8 4.2 V8 FSI engines don’t produce the horsepower figures Audi claim. Most of these vehicles produce between 360-380bhp on standard software. It appears Audi claimed their power figures on an engine dyno, without ancillaries such as the power steering pump & alternator drawing power.

Our own RS4 before modification produced 364bhp at the flywheel. Careful adjustment to the standard map produced an instant jump to 392bhp. This was fantastic results from a naturally aspirated engine simply through remapping.

Eager to achieve more we fitted a full Milltek exhaust system including 200-cell high flow cats. This when combined with further adjustment to the remap produced a staggering 410bhp and 565Nm torque (that’s 135Nm above Audi stock figures!)… that’s without even mentioning a fantastic exhaust note!

BMW 335 Tuning, Remap Development

After extensive development time we are very pleased to release our new BMW 335d tuning map. The BMW 335d as well as its stable mate the BMW 335i are great vehicles to tune, responding very well to fine ecu remapping.

JR Tuning can give significant power and torque gains which completely transform the BMW 335d. Following a remap the BMW 335d achieves much greater midrange acceleration and a massive 78bhp extra power!

Fuel prices climbing yet again… Economy Remap to save money!

Two minutes on the BBC news website and the first thing I notice is fuel prices are rising again. This certainly isn’t good news for the motorist!

“Oil prices have risen on worries over the unrest in the Arab world and concerns over the Japan nuclear crisis. Brent crude rose by 2.5%, or $2.73, to $111.25 a barrel, rebounding from near a three-week low. US light, sweet crude gained $2 to $99.38 a barrel.” – BBC News

So what can you do to save money on fuel? The perfect way to save money on your petrol or diesel fuel bill is to have your vehicle economy remapped. Everyone knows an engine not running at its full potential isn’t efficient. Unfortunately your car is designed by the manufacturers to work in the most extreme of conditions including exceptionally cold arctic climates and with little or no maintenance in countries with very low quality fuel. This doesn’t help fuel economy for drivers here in Europe where we have good quality fuel and easy access to vehicle maintenance.

Another reason manufacturers de-tune their engines is for marketing reasons. Modern Turbo Diesel engines have improved dramatically over the last 2-3 years and some new-model diesels if left in their natural state of tune would make last years petrol model look slow by comparison. A perfect example of this is the BMW 335d. This Twin-Turbo diesel engine once remapped has more grunt than the previous generation ‘M3’ badged petrol BMW. This would upset the M3 owners terribly who paid a premium for their ‘M’ car, as a result BMW are left with no choice but to de-tune the 335d for product placement and marketing reasons.

An economy remap from JR Tuning unleashes your engines potential, but is specifically written to maximize fuel economy, and best of all, you will still see considerable power and torque gains.
